There was a time when my bathroom shelf was filled with store-bought products I didn’t think twice about. Toothpaste, mouthwash, all the usual things—convenient, but full of ingredients I couldn’t pronounce.
Over time, I started simplifying.
What began as curiosity turned into a quiet ritual—one rooted in natural ingredients, slower routines, and a more intentional way of caring for my body.
This is the natural oral care routine I use now—simple, effective, and easy to adapt.
Mineral Tooth Polish (DIY Alternative)

One of the easiest swaps I made was replacing traditional toothpaste with a mineral-based blend.
I use a combination of the following:
- Calcium carbonate powder – 2 TBS
- Coconut oil – 1 TBS
- A touch of baking soda 1/2 tsp
- Peppermint or spearmint oil (10 drops total essential oil)
You can find these ingredients in my Amazon Lists here. Natural Oral Care
It creates a smooth, gentle polish that leaves your teeth feeling clean without the harshness of conventional formulas.
👉 If you’re not ready to DIY, I also like using pre-made alternatives like toothpaste tablets for convenience.

Coconut Oil Pulling Ritual
This has become one of my favorite parts of the morning.
Using coconut oil as a mouth rinse (often called oil pulling) helps create a clean, refreshed feeling while supporting overall oral hygiene.
How I use it:
- Take a small spoonful
- Swish for 5–10 minutes
- Spit in trash can (not in the sink)
Make your own oil pulling tablets by mixing 1/2 cup melted organic coconut oil and adding 10 drops of essential oil (I like to use a combination of peppermint and spearmint). Pour into a silicon cube tray and let set up till firm. Place in jar.
You can also make this easier by using pre-portioned oil pulling tablets or blends. (Here’s the link to a ready-made oil-pulling blend.)
Herbal Mouth Rinse
For a more traditional rinse, I like something simple and botanical.
The basic blend I use includes:
- Distilled Water – 2 Cups
- Dried Sage 2 Tbs
- Dried Mint 2 Tbs
- A pinch of sea salt
Warm this combination over medium heat, then turn off, cover, and let cool. You can add a couple drops of essential oil after it cools if you wish (I add 3 drops of peppermint EO). Pour into a jar. To use Swish in the mouth to rinse or even gargle. Spit it out then rinse mouth.
It’s gentle, refreshing, and aligns beautifully with a natural lifestyle.
Why I Made the Switch
For me, this wasn’t about perfection.
It was about:
- Reducing unnecessary ingredients
- Slowing down daily routines
- Creating small, meaningful rituals
Natural living doesn’t have to be complicated—it just has to feel intentional.
Final Thoughts
You don’t have to replace everything overnight.
Start small. One swap, one ritual, one moment of intention at a time.
